Good Morning church, this is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it! Ps. 118:24

Our scriptural text is taken from Acts 10:38 KJV: “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him”. The works that Jesus performed were according to the anointing that was upon him. The very name Christ means, “The anointed one, and his anointing”. It is the anointing that breaks the yokes of bondage by which the prince of darkness holds us in bondage. But Jesus went about doing good... he performed good works under the anointing by the Holy Spirit. That same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead dwells in us. Romans 8:11. Therefore we are to go about doing good...the works of the Father, showing the true face and love he has for us. Now let us look once again at our scripture. Jesus healed all that were oppressed of the devil, Jesus healed all that were oppressed of the devil! Now isn't it interesting that Jesus never said,” It's not your time yet, you are suffering for the kingdom...

You know, all the chaff we feed the flock of God under the guise of whole food (The Word of God). He never turned anyone away, the only place his healing power was restricted was in Nazareth, and that restriction was caused by their unbelief. The gospels are a journal that records the good works of Jesus, how that he healed, set free and exercised lordship over the domination of satan.

The word translated oppressed in Acts 10:38 means: to dominate, to have authority over, that is lordship over. When Jesus went about doing good and healing...he was exercising lordship over the domination of satan in the lives of people, over nature, over death over lack. Where-ever he went he exercised lordship over the works of satan. Before he left he stated, “The things that I do shall you do also, and greater than these shall you do... Whenever that scripture is read or quoted someone will invariably say, “Well there is nothing greater”. We are not doing the works, so we really don't have to concern ourselves with greater works, until we begin casting out demons, laying hands on the sick, and the sick recover, speaking with new tongues as described in Mark 16:17-18 is not speaking in tongues, it is learning to speak the language of heaven, to talk like God talks. Well you may say , “I don't know how God talks, look in His Word, and hear the voice of God. Read the works of Jesus and see the hand of God, then realize the same Holy Spirit that anointed Jesus resides in each of us who have accepted the salvation He offers.

What is the anointing? The basic meaning is to smear something on an object; We are smeared with the power- authority – that magnetic laser-like power that emanates from God Almighty, that we may pull down strongholds of darkness, cause the blind to see, the lame to walk, and bind up the broken hearted... that beloved is the mission of the body of Christ. Jesus demonstrated how the power of God works though those he anoints to exercise the lordship – the finished works – of Jesus over the domination of satan. If sickness and disease were listed as oppression in that day, it is the same this day. We have been led to accept it as normal, for those outside the kingdom of Jesus Christ, it is normal, but not for the redeemed – those bought back from slavery- Not only did He redeem us, but gave us the authority to perform kingdom business through His name.

Please do not be misled by the title of this message, we do not have the power to release the anointing of God, except through our obedience to His Word and His principles we place ourselves in a position that he can use us for kingdom expansion and setting the captives free. We must walk in love, Jesus had compassion on the people; sometimes when we listen to our leaders we hear a total lack of compassion for the people who are suffering.

We must maintain a spirit of humility, not getting puffed up, that spirit of haughtiness, pride that leads to destruction. Our love walk must be horizontal and vertical, see I Corinthians chapter 13. and we must draw nigh to God, James 4:8. We are then in a position to receive the power of God flowing through us as electricity, the anointing that breaks every yoke of bondage, removes every burden and sets the captives free. It's time for the yoke-destroying, burden-removing power of God to be manifest in our churches, in our communities, in our families. Too long we have hid ourselves as it were in caves from the enemy of our souls and allowed his reign of terror, violence, and oppression to run rampant as a wild fire that crosses state lines and consumes everything in its path. It is time church of the Living God to rise up with power. As we cry out to God for change, submitting ourselves to Him as Isaiah did in chapter 6 of the book that called by his name. We can take authority over the demonic forces that compel people to commit acts of violence, Read the Book and see the works of Jesus calling us by name to become active participants in the anointing that breaks the yokes of bondage.

Be blessed today and every day! Pastor Dowdy
